Our youth hostel is open to all guests. A spontaneous arrival without a confirmed reservation through the youth hostel is currently not possible. A confirmed corona negative test that is not older than 48 hours or proof of vaccination or proof of having survived corona disease must be presented on arrival.
Our youth hostel is located in the park of nature Bergisches Land, which is more than 2.000 sq m huge and a refuge for many animal- and plant species. But also in a cultural way the oldest industrial area in Europe has a lot to offer. And concerning the leisure-opportunities, here you`re absolutely right in the family-holiday, at class trips and group tours. The walking touring network is located directly in front of our house, the Brocher dam is an aquatics-paradise and there are lots of interesting museums. Children will experience the nature at close range, can help out the farmers or stroll on experience-paths. Even the cities Cologne, Bonn and Siegen can be reached fast.
Our guests are feeling well especially due to the uncomplicated and happy atmosphere at our house. In the friendly, bright and convenient rooms one can feel at home fast. The huge outdoor-area invites for playing and frolicing around, and the good leisure-equipment provides a varied stay. Certified by the UNESCO-commission as an environmental youth hostel, we take a stand with a lot of engagement for social- and environmental issues. Economical acting, ecology and natural sciences are topics, which are put into practice here- interesting especially for the extracurricular learning. Sports groups are not just using the nature of the Bergisches Land for a training unit, but also the spacious outdoor-area with sports grounds and several pitches. Choirs & music groups will find enough space for common music- making in the 5 rehearsal rooms of our house. Learning centre for sustainability
UNESCO has proclaimed the years from 2005 to 2014 the "Decade of Education for Sustainable Development". Lindlar Environmental Hostel was recognised as an official Decade Project for the period 2009-2010. With the award, the German Commission for UNESCO honoured the clear eco-educational concept of the hostel and the implementation of sustainability in the management of the hostel.
The subject of environmental education is the focus of the educational programmes offered in Lindlar. For schools, the youth hostel becomes an extracurricular place of learning, where ecology and the natural sciences are clearly explained.
