Circus

Curtain up, clear the ring!

Funny clowns, courageous acrobats and fire-eating artistes – a visit to the circus is always something quite special! And the motto at the youth hostels is also “Come in – and clear the ring”! However, the guests do not take their seats amongst the audience as they normally would – here they have to take part themselves.

At the Circus Youth Hostel of Nettetal-Hinsbeck visitors have the fantastic world of the circus waiting for them: in an original circus tent and under professional supervision, children and teens, classes and families can put their own entire circus programme together – with everything that belongs to that. Stunts are rehearsed, magic tricks learned, costumes chosen... And don’t forget the invitations, because at the end everything must be ready for the great circus gala. Parents, friends and relatives will come as invited guests and every artiste will be in the limelight at some stage.

The Bad Münstereifel Youth Hostel also welcomes young and old artistes alike. While school classes are putting their own circus programme on the stage, families can choose: rucksack or limelight? Some will be donning clowns’ noses while others will be tying up the laces on their hiking boots and discovering the beautiful Eifel countryside with an experienced guide – and by the evening they will all have a lot to talk about!

You can experience a special kind of circus at the Hellenthal Youth Hostel. The covered high-rope course becomes a high-wire circus and the artistes will be flying up to 10 metres way up into the ring – without a safety net and false bottom but nonetheless sufficiently secure, of course.

But acrobatics, juggling and magic are not only fun – these activities also provide testing grounds for educational work and trigger a multitude of learning processes. Kids develop social competences, new body awareness and self-confidence with fun and lightness. Working together on a project creates trust and promotes team ability, mutual support and discipline.
